Creating Global Citizens

Our goal: "A society based in reason."

Delphian’s goal has always been to effect change in the world for the better. Our graduates work toward this end by being people of goodwill. Some of our alumni create simple but powerful effects in their immediate zones, and others make broader impacts through their careers or charitable work.

We encourage the concept of our worldwide community as a team that works together to make our society function, and our global outreach initiative invites our upperclassmen to consider their part in that.

As part of Delphian's practical program, our seniors often do projects involving global outreach. Outreach is comprised of senior students who are excelling in the practical area and Student Council program and who are wanting to expand into broader service opportunities, often beyond the school itself. Once a student is invited to participate in the Student Outreach program, they propose a project of some magnitude (approximately 75 hours in length) that is designed to positively impact their local or global community.

Recent global outreach projects planned and orchestrated by our seniors include volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary in South Africa; bringing Mr. Hubbard’s Study Technology and educational philosophy to a TOEFL training center in China; traveling to Afghanistan to create films for a school trying to improve education in that country; volunteering as part of rescue efforts in tornado-hit Oklahoma; leading a group of 200 volunteers providing urgent supplies to victims of the tsunami in the Philippines; volunteering in a leprosy colony in India, bringing direct care to those in need. These among many others.

To help them prepare for these large service projects, as well as their future lives, juniors and seniors take two courses in our Looking to The Future series. These courses empower our upperclassmen to take their goals into their own hands and start creating toward those goals, toward higher education and life beyond the classroom.
