Featured Delphian Artist J'aena Arellano-Desirey

The Delphian store is excited to start a new program of featuring one talented artist every few months through the pop up shop in the art gallery on campus and through the online Delphian store.

This is not only an opportunity for Delphian art connoisseurs to get their hands on some beautiful art but an opportunity for the student artist to create a body of work and showcase it in a public way to gain the practical experience of being a featured and paid artist in a gallery.

Here is a note from our featured artist this month, J'aena, and a little about the collection she created:

Hello,

I'm J'aena and I am 16 and I'm currently a Form 6 student here at the Delphian School.

Before coming to Delphian, the closest thing I got to art was a coloring book. After joining art classes and working with the art instructors, Rusty and Linda, I learned so many new things. I first experimented with watercolor and then charcoal and various other mediums before I started using heavy body acrylics.

Recently, I have been mixing mediums using heavy body acrylics and wire on refurbished wood which is what the featured pieces in the Delphian art gallery are made from. I love using heavy body acrylic because you can really add texture to your pieces.

Knowing that other people enjoy my art makes me excited!

Love, J'aena

J'aena has four pieces currently featured for sale in the pop up shop in the art gallery on campus and through the online Delphian store.
