This past weekend, October 1st, five Delphian students partnered with the Youth Ending Slavery organization and St. Mary's High School in Portland to march against human trafficking in Portland.
Delphian students are active members of the Youth For Human Rights International club. Frequently participating in marches and working to collect signatures to end human rights violations and to educate people on their human rights.
Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2001 by Dr. Mary Shuttleworth, an educator born and raised in apartheid South Africa, where she witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of discrimination and the lack of basic human rights.
In order to help educate others on their human rights, participatnts of the Delphian YHRI club arrived early to help Youth Ending Slavery organize and put on the march. They helped set up, did a petition signing to have human rights taught in Oregon schools and then participated in the march.
