Concert Pianist Attends Delphian School
Elizabeth Strickland at age 16 has many admirable accomplishments as a concert pianist.
Elizabeth began her piano studies at age eight in Seattle, Washington. She has placed
highly in many regional piano competitions including the Simon Fizet Competition
in February 2007 and the Trula Whelan Concerto Competition in May 2008.
Elizabeth is a veteran performer of more than 75 concerts nationwide performing
as a special guest artist with her father, pop and jazz recording artist, Mike Strickland.
Locally she will perform at the Koncert for Kids on October 22, 2008 to benefit
the McMinnville Kids on the Block, an after-school educational enrichment program.
Elizabeth intends to help the Kids on the Block Program next year by giving low
income students piano lessons.
Elizabeth enrolled in the Delphian School in 2007. The unique program offered at
the Delphian School allows Elizabeth to pursue her love of music and help the community
while finishing her education. The Delphian School teaches students how to study,
as well as providing a strong academic program. As Elizabeth said, "The Delphian
School's personalized academic program allowed me to choose Fine Arts as my major
and align many of the courses on my program around my career interests. I earn credits
toward my diploma by teaching students and performing in the community. With a Delphi
education I will be prepared for life, to be an individual in life, and to be successful
at whatever I do."
