Commencement 2005
Luke Butcher
"Delphi has taught me many vital lessons that will stay with me throughout my life.
"I had always been academically strong, at least in the sense that I could intelligently
discuss data I had read. Unfortunately, this was only one of the abilities needed
to complete this program.
"Delphi taught me that life is not contained within the dusty pages of an ancient
tome. Life is about learning from the mistakes and successes of others, as well
as your own. It is meeting new people, getting involved in your environment, and
recognizing opportunities when they come. The most valuable life lessons I learned
here were in conversations and experiences with various faculty and students who
helped me overcome barriers and difficulties not explained in textbooks or encyclopedias."

"I have had many gains throughout my education at Delphi. I now have the ability
to think for myself and reach conclusions using logic and reasoning. I have the
courage to express these conclusions to others and hold my own, even if others don't
agree. I have the willingness to control my environment, and to take charge of my
life and all of its parts. I have gained a true understanding of what I am capable
of achieving. Essentially, I feel that Delphi has provided me with a strong foundation
that I can use to continue growing and learning in order to reach the goals that
I have set for myself."

"Before I came to Delphi, the thought of having just three years before I would
have to take my life into my own hands scared me. I did not know what I was going
to do, much less how I was going to do it. I came to Delphi to learn English, and
staying to finish the whole program was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I have improved a lot academically and as a person. I know what I am going to do
in life and how I am going to achieve my goals. I have built a solid foundation
of knowledge, ethics, integrity and leadership that I can now build my life on."
