On
Wednesday, February 24th, the Varsity Choir participated in the
Linfield College Small High School Invitational Choir Festival along
with 10 other schools from the area. This Festival is also the district
level competition and qualifies the top competing choirs for the State
Championships.
The choir sang "Sanctus," by Mozart, "Famine
Song," by Vida, "Dirat-on" by Morton Lauridson and the rousing
spiritual, "Wade in the Water," arranged by Moses Hogan to an audience
of students and three choral adjudicators. The songs were well
received. After their performance, one of the judges gave the choir a
short clinic on ways to improve their performance.
The songs attained the standard of excellence necessary to qualify
for the State Choir Championships that will be held in May. This is the
15th consecutive year that the Delphian Varsity choir has qualified for
the State Championships!
