Curriculum
In addition to rounding out academic studies in literature, mathematics, writing,
science, history and government, Upper School students get practical understanding
and experience in the subjects of leadership, integrity and logic, as well as management
and organizational structure. They become a vital element in the functioning of
the school, taking on tasks of increased responsibility, requiring higher and higher
levels of competence.
Delphi graduates learn to function in a professional manner, experience the value
of living responsibly and gain the academic knowledge and practical skills needed
to confidently and competently take the next step in life.
Projects & Apprenticeships
The Delphi Program emphasizes practical application in academic subjects. As students
progress through the Upper School, an increasing percentage of their daily routine
is spent on practical activities. While each of the courses students take incorporates
practical applications of theoretical concepts, at this level of the program students
are expected to also develop more extensive projects, apprenticeships or other field
experience outside of the classroom.
Students propose a variety of projects or apprenticeships, but as they near graduation,
greater emphasis is placed on practical activities relevant to the students' career
goals. By the time students graduate from the Upper School, they will have spent
well over a thousand hours on projects, field activities and/or apprenticeships.
