Affording a Delphian Education

Families who are considering application to the Delphian School but are concerned that it may be beyond their means are encouraged to apply regardless of their financial situation. The school works hard to make a Delphian education affordable by providing assistance through grants, loan programs, installment plans and merit-based scholarships.

In addition to utilizing Your Tuition Solution, a finance and loan company that offers easier terms for repayment of school loans, the Delphian School provides several options for covering the cost of tuition:

• Tuition paid in full for a discounted price (due August 1st).
• Tuition paid in two installments with the first payment due upon enrollment and the balance due December 1st.
• Tuition paid with half due upon enrollment and the balance paid in seven equal installments.

In most cases, financial aid is not a loan nor is repayment required; it is awarded to families who have a demonstrated need for financial assistance.

In order to be considered for financial aid, families must apply online through Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST). This process will include providing recent tax information as a means of verifying household income. Families considering financial aid who are concerned they may not qualify are still encouraged to apply. All financial aid applications are reviewed by Delphian’s Financial Aid Committee and the final decision is made based on the family’s need, as well as the strength of the applicant.

Scholarships are awarded based upon the academic and leadership merits of the applicant. Due to the number of applicants, families are encouraged to apply early.

The Delphian School Financial Aid Committee uses national financial aid standards along with guidelines established by the school and Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST). FAST considers the income, assets, and expenses of the family when determining the level of need.

Delphian School accepts students based on their own qualifications regardless of their family’s financial resources. Accordingly, financial considerations should not deter families from applying for admission to the school. The Financial Aid Committee allocates need-based financial aid to as many qualified families as possible.

All financial aid applications are reviewed by the school’s Financial Aid Committee after a decision on the student's admission has been finalized. The school will notify all applicants and their families of any financial aid decision at the same time we notify them of our admission decision.

Unless there is a significant change in family circumstance, a family can expect that awards will remain consistent.

Delphian works with both Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) and Your Tuition Solution.

Cash, checks and e-checks (drawn on a US bank and in US dollars), and bank wires are the recommended methods of payment. Credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover) are accepted for payment of school fees. Because the bank charges fees for this service, a convenience fee of 2% will be added when using a credit card and 1% when using a debit card online.

Foreign families are strongly encouraged to use Flywire (www.flywire.com/school/delphian). In most cases the family can make the payment in their own currency and receive a lower rate than any bank.

A non-refundable fee of $100 per student is required for application to the school.

A tuition deposit ($1,000 for boarding; $500 for day) is required to secure a student’s place in the school. Upon request the deposit is repayable or transferable until 30 days prior to enrollment day, after which it will be forfeited.

It is required that all students whose home address is outside the United States sign up with the
Exchange Student Worldwide Medical Insurance Plan for primary medical coverage. This cost
is included in the Flexible Tuition ranges.

The student meal fee provides for all meals which are appropriate to the student’s academic schedule and school activities.

Guests and family of enrolled students are welcome to join the student in the dining room. The visitor meal fee is $8.00 per person. Dinners for special events are complimentary.

Students may enroll in the Lower School at five years old when meeting qualifications for kindergarten. Boarding Elementary and Middle School students are assigned a Personal Teacher who provides extra service and personal care outside of class. The Personal Teacher yearly fee is included in the Flexible Tuition ranges.

Each boarding student needs personal spending money for weekly allowances, optional weekend excursions and special trips. Students will need a credit or debit card to be used for such expenses during the school year. The school has an ATM machine for the occasional times when cash is needed. A maximum of $100 cash is allowed on hand.

Transportation for students between the school and the Portland Airport, bus or train stations will be provided at no charge on scheduled enrollment and departure days, providing the student is scheduled to arrive or depart before 7pm. Students are expected to adhere to the scheduled arrival and departure days. Daily bus service to and from McMinnville is available for day students.
