Delphian has implemented a school cell phone policy to encourage student interaction and participation in the summer program experiences.
Elementary and middle school students may bring cell phones to Delphian for the summer session, but these will be held by their personal teachers. The personal teacher will work with, and supervise, the student to access their phone for contacting family each evening or at another suitable time (for international families).
Upper school students may also bring their phones. Phones are to be turned in to academic supervisors from 8:30 to 6:30 each weekday. If there’s a legitimate reason for a student to have a phone during a time that it is with the academic supervisor, the academic supervisor will provide a note giving the specific circumstances and timing that is appropriate.
Upper school students will then be able to have their phones for an hour during a specified time in the evening. This will vary for each student based on the student’s evening schedule once it is finalized.
On weekend trips, students will not have their phones unless there is a safety reason, such as while on the Seattle trip and walking about town. An exception is that upper school students will be allowed to have phones on long bus rides.
